VACANCY - SOCIAL MEDIA OFFICER (PORT HARCOURT)

MindAfrica Leadership Initiative is seeking the employment of an experienced Social Media Officer to join our Team. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and managing MindAfrica's social media strategy, highlighting the organization's impact and creating opportunities for fundraising engagement. S/He will create new content, and aggregate existing content for MindAfrica's current social media channels: Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter and Instagram. S/He will be up to date on the latest effective engagement strategies on all social media platforms, and will be constantly looking for new opportunities for engagement.

The Social Media Officer will be excellent at spotting a story, and skilled at developing and editing the imagery to take that story to MindAfrica's audiences. S/He will be skilled at digital marketing and always eager to contribute to the creation and implementation of communication content including video editing, photo development, and social media graphics, as well as contributing to the overall direction of MindAfrica's program campaigns as necessary.

This role reports to the Executive Director and will work closely with team colleagues, consultants and vendors as required.

Key Responsibilities and Duties

Social Media Strategy

  • Develop MindAfrica's social media strategy, create content and oversee existing social media accounts (Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, Instagram) with the goal of growing our presence and maximizing engagement.
  • Amplify organization's impact and success stories by developing multi-media, digital content in collaboration with program team members and consultants/vendors, including but not limited to videos, graphics, and interactive content.

Tracking And Monitoring

  • Monitor social media metrics and analyze outcomes in monthly reports to Executive Director.
  • Identify and report on local and global social trends and advise on potential opportunities or risks.
  • Create and edit videos for website and social media.
  • Create social media assets, reels, stories as necessary.
  • Support colleagues with social media best practices by providing tools, guidelines and trainings as needed.

Experience and Skills Required For The Role

  • BA in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, Journalism, International Relations or related field.
  • Previous experience of donor focused communications, working for a non-profit, media outlet, marketing or advertising agency.
  • Experience in managing organizational social networking accounts (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, etc.)
  • Experience in developing, implementing, and reporting on an organization's social media strategy.
  • Strong writing skills for variety of different audiences.
  • A self-starter with demonstrated capacity for effective teamwork.
  • Excellent organizational abilities with strong skills in managing multiple projects.
  • Strong communications skills in working with diverse groups.
  • Outstanding written communication and editing skills.
  • Design and video editing experience using Adobe Photoshop, Premiere or After Effects.
  • Email and website CMS experience will be an added advantage.
  • Experience with Google Analytics
