Sustainable development begins with empowerment. In line with this vision, MindAfrica launched the GROW Program—Generating Resilience and Opportunities for Women—to boost economic self-reliance among underserved women in Nigeria.
Held from May 6–8, 2025, the inaugural rollout trained 150 women across Nkanu East, Udenu, and Udi LGAs in Enugu State. The program was implemented in partnership with the Enugu State Ministry of Children, Gender Affairs and Social Development and Enpower Free Trade Zone.
The event was attended by the Honourable Commissioner for Children, Gender Affairs and Social Development, Hon. Mrs. Ngozi Enih, whose presence underscored the government’s commitment to inclusive community development.
Vocational Skills for Sustainable Livelihoods
Participants underwent intensive, hands-on training in three high-impact vocational areas:
For 82% of the women, this was their first exposure to formal vocational training—a life-changing experience that restored dignity, confidence, and purpose.
Each participant received a starter pack tailored to their chosen trade, and three mentorship groups were established to provide ongoing guidance.
Early Impact and Community Transformation
By the end of the training, 100% of participants had completed hands-on sessions, with 85% expressing readiness to launch microenterprises. Within the first month, 30% had already started production and sales, marking a strong and rapid return on investment.
Today, participants are cultivating home gardens, preserving food, and producing household hygiene products. More than generating income, the program has restored confidence and sparked leadership among women who previously lacked access to opportunities. Peer mentors are emerging, and community-level change is already unfolding.
As Nigeria works toward inclusive economic growth, MindAfrica remains committed to expanding the GROW Program to equip more underserved women with practical skills and support for entrepreneurship.
We are actively seeking partners and funders to scale this impact and ensure that no woman is left behind.
Join us as we empower women, strengthen communities, and drive lasting change.
