In June 2024, MindAfrica held the highly anticipated 2024 School Maker Faire, an event designed to ignite creativity and inspire innovation among Nigerian students. With the support of leading industry partners such as SNEPCo, OIDA Energy, Xenergi, and esteemed judges from SPE (Society of Petroleum Engineers) and NSE (Nigerian Society of Engineers), the Maker Faire showcased the potential of young students to create solutions to pressing challenges in their communities.
The highlight of the Faire included a presentation by the Chairman, Board of Trustees of MindAfrica, Engr. Emeka Ene which inspired students to set ambitious goals, build confidence, and take immediate action to create a brighter future for themselves, and a STEM quiz on energy sources hosted by Xenergi’s COO, Mr. Debo Fagbami, which tested and expanded students’ knowledge of sustainable energy solutions. These activities engaged students and educators alike, enhancing their understanding of how technology can drive change in the energy sector.
Key Outcomes of the 2024 School Maker Faire:
At MindAfrica, we are committed to providing young Nigerians with the tools and opportunities to become the innovators and problem-solvers of tomorrow. The School Maker Faire is just one of our many efforts to empower students with the STEM skills needed to tackle the challenges of the future.
As we look ahead to 2025, we invite potential partners and funders to join us in expanding our impact, and creating more opportunities for underserved children and youth to access quality STEM education. With your support, we can continue to inspire the next generation of Nigerian innovators and foster sustainable development across the nation.
