A major highlight of the day was the keynote address by Merab Dorgu, a trailblazer in the tech industry, who shared her personal journey of overcoming challenges in STEM leadership. This was followed by a thought-provoking panel discussion with accomplished female leaders in technology, including Ijeoma Mikehymne, Deborah Onalo, Chikaodili Anowai, and Nneka Ojei, who offered real-world insights on breaking barriers in the digital world.
The workshops that followed featured practical sessions on coding, robotics, and digital literacy, sparking curiosity and enthusiasm among the girls. Facilitated by a dedicated team of volunteer mentors, these sessions encouraged hands-on participation, enabling each girl to explore the possibilities within technology. The standout moment of the day was the XAMI robotics presentation by OIDA’s Nneka Ojei, which captivated the students and served as an inspiration for the future of Nigerian girls in STEM.
MindAfrica’s flagship Girls Code Club, introduced during the event, was met with much excitement. The program aims to extend the impact of the day beyond the event by offering ongoing digital inclusion training and mentorship for girls, ensuring continuous learning and growth in technology. Through the Girls Code Club, MindAfrica seeks to build a pipeline of skilled young women who can confidently pursue careers in tech, entrepreneurship, and leadership, contributing to a more inclusive digital future.
With Nigeria’s rapidly growing digital economy, MindAfrica is committed to scaling our initiatives to provide young women with opportunities to develop the technical and leadership skills necessary for the jobs of the future. We are actively seeking partners and funders to collaborate with us in expanding our programs and ensuring that no girl is left behind in the digital revolution.
Join us as we champion digital inclusion and empower the next generation of female tech leaders in Nigeria.
